The project goal is to create a scene with a galaxy painting into it. The galaxy part is in watercolor and the rest is in sharpie. I warn students to make sure there is enough black or dark tomes within the galaxy to stand out to all of the white on the paper. The stars are created by dipping a pencil into white acrylic paint and dotting it on the galaxy.

Students are required to create three rough drafts to avoid seeing the same idea across the classroom. A few common ideas that have been overdone are the galaxy in the coffee cup and a paint can spilling over with a galaxy.
