A great project for those that live in the desert
As an art teacher, I try to have some projects that reflect where we live. Well, Las Vegas is in a desert, so a cactus painting seems appropriate.
This project is all about layering. In class, I have a slide presentation that shows the layering, and the students are able to create really amazing pieces. This project is tempera paint on matte board.

This slide presentation shows how I did the layering for the cactus painting. I don't recommend clouds. When students added them in, they were too white, cartoonish, and it was distracting from the all of the work put into the cactus.
