Binder Paper Art

Line it up

This is a fun assignment. I took white paper and lined it up with binder paper and made marks on each side so that the lines would be straight when using the ruler. I sketched it lightly and then I modified the lines to become a whirlpool with two ships. Students have to draw three different rough drafts and the colors needs to include the traditional binder paper colors to start. They may add other colors after. The students come up with really fun ideas and it is executed well. It's nice to see them on display too.

The video shows how to draw he lines and change into something else.

The Advanced Version

I used to have this up in the classroom and it would get comments such as, "Wait, you made that?!". For the binder paper project, I show it as an example in case student want to draw the paper as if it is ripping. For my own drawing, I ripped a piece of binder paper from the middle and then used it as reference when drawing the shape and shadows.
